Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme: 

In an effort to support the education of young girls and ensure that they continue their studies beyond primary school, the Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme has been introduced. The scheme is designed to help girls enrolled in secondary and higher secondary levels by offering them support to continue their education, reduce dropout rates, and promote enrollment.

In rural areas of Punjab, many girls drop out of school after class 8 due to the challenges of accessing education. The schools are often far from their homes, and families are unable to afford transport or even bicycles to help their daughters commute. Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme addresses this critical issue by providing a free bicycle to eligible girl students from classes 9 to 12, making it easier for them to reach school and continue their education without worrying about transportation.

Eligibility Criteria :

2. Grade Level: The student must be enrolled in classes 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th in a government school.
3. Below Poverty Line (BPL): The applicant must belong to a family categorized as BPL.
4. School Enrollment: The applicant must be enrolled in a government school.

Application Process :

Applying for the Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme is a straightforward process:

1. Offline Application: The application process is offline, and students need to approach their respective school principal for further details.
2. Obtain the Application Form: The concerned school authorities will provide the application form.
3. Fill the Form and Submit Documents: Complete the form and submit the required documents for verification.
4. Verification: The details of the applicant will be verified by the concerned authority.
5. Benefit Availment: Once the verification is complete, the eligible student will be provided with a free bicycle under the scheme.

Required Documents :

To apply for the scheme, the following documents are required:

• Identity Proof: Aadhaar card or similar ID.
• Resident Proof: Documents proving the applicant’s residency in Punjab.
• BPL Card: A valid Below Poverty Line (BPL) card.
• Caste Certificate: If applicable.
