Concessional Bus Travel Facility to Women Above 60 Years of Age:
The Concessional Bus Travel Facility to Women Above 60 Years of Age is a government initiative implemented by the Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab. This scheme provides senior women with financial assistance by offering a 50% concession in bus fares for travel on Punjab Roadways and Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) buses. The scheme has been in effect since 12th November 1999 and aims to ease the burden of transportation costs for women aged 60 and above who reside in Punjab.
The Concessional Bus Travel Facility is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support senior citizens, particularly women, who might face financial challenges as they age. Public transport can often be a significant expense for older individuals, and by offering a concession, this scheme ensures that women above 60 can travel comfortably and affordably within the state, whether for medical appointments, visiting family, or simply for social activities.
