Janta Juth Accidental Insurance Scheme

Launched by the Government of Gujarat on 26th January 1996, the Janta Juth Scheme is designed to provide financial support of up to ₹2,00,000 to farmers or their families in the event of accidental death or disability. This 100% state-sponsored initiative aims to assist farmers’ successors, ensuring economic stability in times of unforeseen circumstances.

If a registered farmer, their spouse, or children (ages 5-70) face an accident leading to death or permanent disability, this scheme provides financial assistance. The state government covers the insurance premium for all farmers.

Implemented under the Gujarat Community Group-Janta Accidental Insurance Scheme since 01/04/08, it is managed through the Director of Insurance, Gandhinagar.

Benefits :

  1. Accidental Death or Permanent Disability:
    • 100% Assistance of ₹2,00,000.
  2. Accidental Loss of Two Eyes / Two Limbs / One Eye & One Limb:
    • 100% Assistance of ₹2,00,000 (full sight loss in eyes, upper wrist for hand, or knee for leg).
  3. Accidental Loss of One Eye or One Limb:
    • 50% Assistance of ₹1,00,000.

Eligibility ✅

To qualify, the applicant must meet the following conditions:

  1. Registered Farmers, or their spouse/children (ages 5-70), or any family member (in specified order of priority) are eligible.
  2. The death or disability must result from an accident.
  3. Application must be submitted within 150 days from the date of the incident to the District Agriculture Officer.

Beneficiaries –

  1. Husband/Wife of the farmer.
  2. If the husband/wife is unavailable, the son/daughter.
  3. In their absence, the father/mother.
  4. Grandchildren (if no other family members are available).
  5. Unmarried/ Widow/ Exiled Sisters living with the family, and other legally recognized heirs.

⚠️ Note: Suicide or natural deaths are not covered by this scheme.

How to Apply? 📝

The application process is offline:

  1. Submit the application to the District Agriculture Officer within 150 days of the incident.
  2. The applicant for accidental death will be the farmer’s successor, and for disability, the disabled person themselves will apply.

Documents Needed 📑

  1. Application in prescribed form (Annexure -1, 2, 3, etc.)
  2. 7/12, 8-A, Form No. 6 (certified extract after death date).
  3. Post-mortem report & FIR/Spot Panchnama.
  4. Death Certificate & Age Proof.
  5. Disability certificate from the Medical Board/Civil Surgeon.
  6. Indemnity Bond and Hereditary Report.
  7. Any other documents as requested by the Director of Insurance.

⚠️ Note: Applications submitted after 150 days will not be eligible.
