Kalpana Chawla Chatravriti Yojana

The “Kalpana Chawla Chatravriti Yojana” was launched in 2012-13 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh in memory of the late astronaut Kalpana Chawla. The scheme aims to empower girls from economically weaker sections of the state by providing them financial assistance for pursuing higher education. The scholarship supports girls in their academic and career aspirations, helping them achieve their goals and become self-reliant.

Benefits of the Scheme:

• Annual Scholarship Amount: A scholarship of ₹15,000 per year will be provided to eligible students.
• Direct Bank Transfer: The scholarship amount is directly disbursed into the beneficiary’s bank account.
• Renewal of Scholarship: The scholarship is renewable for up to five years, as long as the student continues to meet the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Residency: The applicant must be a resident of Himachal Pradesh.
• Gender: The applicant must be a girl.
• Educational Status: The applicant must be a regular student enrolled in any 10+2, academic, professional, or technical course (Science/Arts/Commerce streams).
• Institution Requirement: The educational institution must be Government, Government Aided, or a Private School affiliated with the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education.
• Course Eligibility: The scholarship is applicable to students pursuing higher education, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional courses.
• Merit Requirement: The scholarship is granted strictly based on 10+2 merit as declared by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education.

Application Process:

Online Registration and Application:

1. Step 1: Registration
   • Visit the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in.
   • Click on “New Registration”.
   • Read the Guidelines for Registration and scroll to the bottom. Accept the terms and conditions and click Continue.
   • Fill in the registration form with mandatory details and click Register.
   • Your Application ID and Password will be displayed on the screen and also sent to your registered mobile number.
2. Step 2: Login
   • After registration, visit scholarships.gov.in/fresh/newstdRegfrmInstruction.
   • Click on “Login to Apply” and enter your Application ID and Password.
   • Complete the Captcha and click Login.
   • You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP, and you will be redirected to the Password Reset page.
   • Create a new password and confirm it, then click Submit. You will be taken to your Applicant’s Dashboard.
3. Step 3: Application Form
   • On the left pane of the dashboard, click “Application Form”.
   • Fill in all the compulsory fields marked with an asterisk (*) and upload the necessary documents.
   • You can either click on “Save as Draft” if you want to complete the application later or click “Final Submit” to submit your application.
4. Step 4: Final Submission
   • After filling out the application form and uploading all the required documents, click “Final Submit” to complete your application.

• Aadhaar Card
• Class 12th Passing Certificate
• Admission Certificate for the post-10+2 course
• Bank Passbook (for scholarship amount disbursement)
• Selection Letter granted by the educational authority
• Passport-sized Photograph
• Domicile Certificate of Himachal Pradesh
• Income Certificate of the applicant’s family
• Fee Payment Receipt for the course
• Bonafide Certificate from the institution
