Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme: 

Launched in 2018 by the Government of West Bengal, the Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme is a social welfare initiative designed to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged families in the state for the marriage of their daughters.  This one-time ₹25,000 assistance helps ensure that families can celebrate this special occasion with dignity and without the burden of financial stress.

Eligibility Criteria ✅:

  • Age: The girl must be 18 years or older.
  • Annual Income: The family’s income should be ≤ ₹1.5 lakhs.
  • Education: The girl must have completed at least 10th standard or equivalent.
  • Marital Status: The girl must be unmarried at the time of application.
  • Residence: The girl must be a resident of West Bengal for at least 5 years, or born in the state.
  • Bank Account: The girl must have an active bank account.
  • Number of Daughters: The scheme applies to one or two daughters of a family.

Exclusions :

  • Income above ₹1.5 lakhs: Families with a higher annual income are not eligible.
  • More than two daughters: Only families with one or two daughters can apply.
  • Marriages outside West Bengal: The scheme applies only for marriages within West Bengal.
  • Non-Compliance with Education: The girl must have completed at least 10th standard to be eligible.

How to Apply :

  1. Step 1: Collect necessary documents like birth certificate, identity proof, income certificate, and marriage invitation.
  2. Step 2: Get the application form from:
    • BDO office (for rural areas)
    • SDO office (for municipalities)
    • KMC Commissioner’s office (for urban areas)
  3. Step 3: Fill out the form, attach documents, and submit it to the concerned office.
  4. Step 4: The financial assistance will be transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiary family.

Documents Required :

  • Proof of Age: Birth certificate or Voter ID/PAN card/Aadhaar card
  • Proof of Unmarried Status: Self-declaration
  • Family Income Proof: Self-declaration certified by a Competent Authority
  • Proof of Residence: Self-declaration
  • Bank Account Details: Copy of bank passbook
  • Marriage Proof: Invitation card or marriage registration notice
  • Prospective Groom’s Age: Proof (e.g., birth certificate, Voter ID)
  • Passport-size Photographs: Of the applicant and the groom

Timeline for Application :

  • Apply at least 30 days before the wedding and up to 1 year after the marriage date.
